I wanted to created a truly flavorful smoky plant based burger. This one has egg, but no meat, dairy, or gluten. You can however replace the egg with a flax or chia egg for vegan version!
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked quinoa
One can drained and smashed black beans
Three eggs
3/4 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs or smashed gluten-free crackers
2 tablespoons vegan Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon coconut amino‘s or soy sauce
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1 to 2 teaspoons chipotle hot sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
one handful chopped cilantro
4 deseeded finely chopped jalapeños (optional)
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together well. Heat up skillet or cast-iron pan with 1 tablespoon oil over medium heat. Use a 1/3 cup measuring cup and pack with mixture then use spoon or spatula to scoop out and flatten into burger shape. Fry each burger for about five minutes each side or until dark golden brown.
Makes 11 burgers which can be refrigerated up to one week or frozen to heat up later. Also try making these as meatballs!
